IKEA #73
IKEA #73, encourages the viewer to contemplate the plasticity of metal and pulls the material away from an assumed formal use as a foundational material. The execution of my initial vision was to provide movement to steel through modular pieces of increasing size. The method of folding and unfolding situates this piece to have no permanent configuration, meaning the piece is continuously in the process of movement and experimentation. Upholding the intrinsic quality of steel with the fabrication resembling premade furniture, it invites constant reconfiguration similar to a child’s toy, but with raw industrialized material swinging with power and energy.
